Online Craps Terminology
The gambling game of craps can be daunting at the best of times, but trying to
get understanding actual online craps terms or lingo can be quite a process
in itself.
We have a included a short alphabetical glossary with the most common
online craps terminology that you will encounter at any land or online casino.
3-Way Craps - When a player bets in 3 units - one on 2, one on 3 and one
on 12.
Any Craps - When a player bets 2, 3, or 12 for the upcoming roll.
Any Seven - When a player bets on 7 for the upcoming roll.
Betting Right - When a player bets on the Pass Line and Come bets. (The
throw must pass in order to be a winner).
Betting Wrong - When a player bets on the Don't Pass Line and Don't Come
bets. (The throw must NOT pass in order to be a winner).
Big Eight - When a player bets that an 8 will be rolled before a 7 is
rolled.
Big Six - When a player bets that a 6 will be rolled before a 7 is
rolled.
Big Red - When a player bets on Any Seven.
Buy Bet - When a player bets a 5% commission (to the house) to be paid
proper odds for a place bet.
Capped Dice - Illegal or non-regulation dice
Cold Table - A table where the players aren't currently winning.
Come Bet - Same as Pass Line bet but is made after the Come Out roll.
Come Out Roll - The first roll in a betting round which dictates the Pass
and Don't Pass Line bets.
Correct Odds - The mathematical odds that a bet will be a winner.
Don't Come - When a player bets against the dice after the come out roll.
(A 7 must surface before the point is rolled again).
Don't Pass - A bet against the dice prior to a Come Out roll.
Double Odds - When a player doubles the initial Pass Line, Don't Pass
Line, Come and Don't Come bets.
Easy Way - When a player rolls 4, 6, 8, 10 and each die is different from
the rest.
Even-Money - A 1 to 1 payoff.
Field Bet - When a player bets on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12.
Free Odds Bet - A bet accepted at true odds.
Hardway - When a player bets on 4, 6, 8 or 10 thrown as pairs, such as
4-4, before the dice are rolled easy or before a 7 comes out.
Horn Bet - When a player bets the same amount on 2, 3, 11 and 12.
Horn High Bet - When a player splits his bet - two units on the number
12, and three units on 2, 3 and 11.
Hot Roll - Continually passing dice that are held by a shooter for a long
time before a seven-out.
Insurance Bet - Two or more wagers made to cover each other.
Lay Bet - When a player bets that a point number will not appear before a
7 is thrown.
Lay Odds - Additional odds that a player can use to bet against the dice.
Loaded Dice - Dice that have been weighted to affect their roll.
Line Bet - When a player bets on the Pass Line or Don't Pass Line.
Off - Means that on the upcoming roll of the dice, certain bets will be
safe.
One Roll Bet - Bets whose outcomes are determined by the upcoming roll of
the dice.
Parley - When a player doubles the bet.
Pass Line Bet - A bet that is dictated by whether the dice will win or
pass.
Payoff - A player's winnings.
Place Bet - A bet stating a place number will be thrown before a 7 comes
out.
Place Numbers - 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10.
Point Number - One of the following numbers: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10
determined on the come out roll.
Pressing a Bet - Doubling a bet.
Proposition Bets - Refers to all one-roll bets as well as the Hardway
bet.
Right Bettor - Any player who bets the dice will pass or win.
Sequence Bet - A bet whose outcome is not necessarily determined on the
following roll but may take a succession of rolls to be determined.
Seven Out - The moment after a point has been established when a 7 is
thrown out. The next player in line then becomes the shooter.
Shooter - The player who is currently rolling the dice.
Wrong Bettor - When a player bets the dice will not pass.
